Custom Passive Industrial Hearing Protection
SOWEI Work is Audiovox’s custom hearing protection for work use. They are compact and have a small handle that makes them easy to insert and remove. SOWEI Work comes with a cord to minimize the risk of dropping your hearing protection on the work floor. The hearing protection is made from a soft medical silicone and the noise filters in the hearing protection allows your ear to equalize pressure, meaning you can wear them all day without discomfort. SOWEI Work is available with detection for companies in the food industry.
The hearing protection can be supplied with a noise filter that attenuates noise non-linearly. Here, high-frequency sounds (e.g. angle grinders and compressed air) are attenuated the most, while medium-frequency sounds (e.g. speech and motors) and low-frequency sounds (e.g. machinery) are attenuated the least. This means that you are able to communicate with your colleagues, hear alarms and the like while working in a noisy environment.
SOWEI Work is a certified custom hearing protection for occupational use according to EN352-2:2002, EU regulation 2016/425 and is CE approved.
How sound is perceived is individual from person to person and the same goes for any sound attenuation. That’s why it can be difficult to explain what it sounds like when you use hearing protection.
At Audiovox, we know that it’s important for you as a customer to understand the impact of a product before you buy it. That’s why we offer you the opportunity to listen to audio demos so you can get an idea of how it sounds when loud sounds are reduced.
However, it’s important to emphasize that the audio demos are for guidance only and do not demonstrate exactly how you will experience sound attenuation when using molded hearing protection.

Difference between hearing protection
We’re often asked about the difference between Audiovox industrial custom hearing protection and other types of cheaper hearing protection. With some other types of hearing protection, you risk being exposed to over-attenuation. This means that while the hearing protection muffles the harmful noise around you, it also muffles important sounds such as alarms, bells and verbal communication between colleagues. Below you can hear a demonstration of the differences between generic foam plugs and Audiovox custom industrial hearing protection.
Custom hearing protection
Custom hearing protection are individually adapted to each user’s ear canals, ensuring a high level of comfort over a full working day compared to traditional over-ear hearing protection. You won’t be bothered by the heat or pressure on the temple that you experience with traditional over-the-ear hearing protection.
Custom hearing protection is safer to use if you wear glasses or a hat during the cold winter months, as the noise attenuation of a traditional over-the-ear hearing protection is reduced if it doesn’t fit snugly to the ear due to an eyeglass stem or a hat getting in the way of the hearing protection.
When working in noise, both the sound level and the amount of time spent in the noise have an impact on how much hearing is affected. The longer the time or louder the noise, the greater the strain. In workplaces, employers must provide hearing protection if the noise is above 80 dB. This also applies to noise below 80 dB if it is highly annoying, such as low-frequency noise from machinery. For noise above 85 dB, the employee is required to wear hearing protection. It is important to wear hearing protection at all times if the noise is above 85 dB, as the user is at risk of hearing damage even if the limit is only exceeded for a short period of time. At 88 dB, there is a high risk of hearing damage already after 4 hours. At 94 dB this applies after 1 hour and at 120 dB after just 15 seconds.
Questions and answers:
What are custom hearing protection?
Audiovox’s custom passive hearing protection is individually adapted to the individual user’s ears and is used in workplaces with noise above 85 dB
Who can use custom hearing protection?
Custom hearing protection is used by employees in noisy workplaces with noise levels above 85 dB who need comfortable noise reduction over an entire working day
How do I get an impression taken for custom hearing protection?
Audiovox’s custom hearing protection are individually adapted to each user’s ears. We make an impression of each ear, after which the impression is 3D scanned and the hearing protection is made after the 3D scan. The prints are made by one of Audiovox’s specialists or a collaboration partner
What is a nonlinear noise filter?
A nonlinear noise filter attenuates noise differently in different frequency bands. The filters provide the most attenuation of high-frequency sounds (eg angle grinders and compressed air), less attenuation of medium-frequency sounds (eg machines and motors) and the least attenuation of low-frequency sounds (eg speech). This enables the user to communicate while working in an environment with a high noise level
How much do custom hearing protection attenuate?
Audiovox’s custom hearing protection can be supplied with 3 different noise filters: 23 dB, 26 dB and 28 dB
